2017 has started on a much brighter note than 2016.
Despite the uncertainty of a new US administration and Brexit, confusion data from a range of global sources has been positive. UK manufacturing output has exceeded expectation as has eurozone growth which is at its highest for six years, with Germany reporting inflation of 1.7% for December, close to the ECB target. Asian stocks have started the year strongly cheered by good news from the USA and Europe.
Most portfolios will have shown a small increase over the holiday period and we continue to advocate global diversification and a reduction in fixed interest as our theme for 2017.
